Student Health Services

Watkins Student Health Center is located in Van Housen Hall near the Counseling Center and University Police. We have a professional staff consisting of a physician, nurse practitioners, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, a dietitian, a RN, LPN’s, a laboratory technician, a health educator, a receptionist and a secretary that manages the flow of students through the very busy health clinic. Some of the services that Student Health Services provides are:

• Free appointments
• A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides mental health counseling
• Reproductive health counseling including prescriptions for contraception and placement of IUD’s
• A Dietitian provides counseling regarding eating disorders, special diets, weight, health concerns, etc.
• Low cost, confidential HIV, and STI testing
• Physicals for college athletes, travel abroad, internships, and employment
• An on campus pharmacy which provides low cost medication for acute illnesses; or can send prescriptions to local pharmacies (student’s choice)
• On-site laboratory services; mono tests, strep tests, pregnancy tests, HIV testing and bloodwork as needed to send out using student’s insurance
• Allergy shots
• Flu shot clinics
• Self-Care Center for colds and flu
• Review and maintenance of health records for all students in accordance with NYS law
• Annual Wellness Fair
