CIS 420 - Database Systems 3 Credit(s)
Fundamental concepts of database design and practice. Topics include data models, data description and query languages (relational algebra and SQL), data normalization, indexing, concurrency control, query processing, backup and recovery, security, and advance database topics such as Big Data, NoSQL and MapReduce. Emphasis is made on practical design of databases and its applications through group projects.
Prerequisite(s): CIS 205 and CIS 300 with a minimum grade of 2.0.
