This course has a dual focus. First, it is an examination of the rhetorical strategies employed by African Americans from the early 19^th century to the present. This examination covers the chronological span from Nat Turner (1800 - 1831) to Louis Farrakhan. Second, an analysis of the rhetorical strategies employed, using methods of rhetorical criticism ranging from neo-Aristotelian criticism to Burkeian analysis. As warranted.
