@MUAP 327 - Irish Ensemble

 In this course students will learn a body of tunes from the Irish traditional music repertoire, including jigs, reels, hornpipes, slides, and polkas. Instruction will include proper ornamentation and style as well as cultural context for each tune. Tunes will be learned b7y ear, and will be performed in “sessions” both in class and in other locations. Open to students who play the following instruments: violin, penny whistle, Irish flute, accordion, Irish Banjo, bazouki, concertina, guitar, or Uilleann pipes. Students need not be music majors, but must be able to play to a minimum proficiency standard in order to be able to fully participate. Please contact the instructor for guidelines. Spring.
