ECON 102 - Economics & Global Capitalism

This course is an introduction to economics with a particular focus on the workings of the global economy. Students will learn and apply basic economic tools of analysis to explore the functioning of global capitalism. Real world examples and case studies will be used to examine economic and political economy issues from alternative theoretical perspectives. Topics covered include the workings of markets; the role of the state; relations between labor, capital and governments; business cycles; banking systems; economic stabilization policies; and international trade and development. Fall.
