COMM 303 - Media Law II 3 Credit(s)
This course examines the legal dimensions of modern journalism and strategic communication. Students review Constitutional theories, which provide a basis for the critical and systematic analysis of case studies and arguments. Students study current, relevant mass media law, emphasizing precedent-setting court cases in the United States. Topics addressed include newsgathering; access to courts, meetings, and documents, confidential sources; broadcast, cable, and internet concerns; advertising and PR; and student publications. Spring only.
