ANTH 111 - Introduction to Anthropology 3 Credit(s)
Gen Ed: TF This course explores a question: what does it mean to be human? It does so by examining the four main subfields of anthropology: cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and archaeology. While learning a general overview of each area of anthropology, students will use anthropological knowledge to dissect assumptions about humans, evaluate the impact of culture and biology on our existence, and decipher fact from fiction in the media’s portrayal of anthropological topics. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, questioning who we are as a species is a necessarily endeavor, one that will benefit students pursuing any career path.
