GRDG 655 - Literacy Intervention Strategies PK to 12 3 Credit(s)
The purpose of this course is to prepare preservice and in-service teachers with theoretical frameworks and practical applications of effective, evidence-based interventions in literacy (PK-12). The course includes frameworks and philosophies of intervention strategies for literacy in early childhood, childhood, middle childhood and adolescence. A repertoire of methods and activities will be used to assist and enhance literacy abilities among children and will culminate in student-created programs of age- and grade-appropriate literacy intervention strategies. A central theme of this course will be to match effective, evidence-based instruction with assessed literacy difficulties.
