SPED 669 - Practicum in Special Education

This six-week practicum experience in a special education setting follows required course completion for the MSED in Special Education Program. Various techniques, skills and documents included in coursework throughout the program are embedded in the practicum. Candidates will be expected to create a safe, inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments so that individuals with exceptionalities become active and effective learners and develop emotional well-being, positive social interactions, and self-determination. Students are placed with a cooperating teacher in a classroom assignment coordinated through the Office of School Partnerships and Student Teaching or in their own special education classroom if they meet the experience requirements. Pre-requisites: All required courses and assignments with the exception of SPED 612, Technology in Special Education, have to be completed with at least a 3.0 cumulative average, prior to enrolling in this course.
