GRED 575 - How Adults Learn 3 Credit(s)
Explore how adults learn across the lifespan in formal settings like college, and in less formal settings like the workplace and the community. With an emphasis on cognitive science and research-informed theory and strategies, we’ll build a foundation of the history, best practices, and theories of learning, including diverse ways of knowing. Instruction-related concepts like pedagogy, andragogy, and heutagogy will be included, and other topics include indigenous ways of knowing, the science of learning, and the role of assessment in the learning process. You will reflect on your own learning as you apply course concepts to hands-on, minds-on activities related to your personal, academic, and career goals. Tools for learning will include generative artificial intelligence and digital media. All required course materials are open educational resources (OER) and provided via our learning management system at no extra cost.
