INDS 300 - Approaches to INDS Research

3 Credit(s)

This course gives students the opportunity to think critically about the theory and practice of interdisciplinary research. It is primarily a workshop in a variety of research methods that might prove useful as part of an interdisciplinary approach to a particular question or problem. Each unit includes in-class and out-of-class assignments that ask students to engage actively with research practices, including (but not limited to) formal written assignments. By the end of this course, students should not only have some foundational familiarity with the presumptions and methods of research in a variety of disciplines, but also be able to more effectively formulate a complex research question and make informed decisions about which disciplinary methods of inquiry are likely to be most useful to them in developing an effective response to that question
