4 Credit(s)

Graphic Design for Non-Majors is an introductory course for students with an interest in graphic design and will cover basic techniques and principles of producing computer-generated art and design. Basic theoretical tenants will be addressed through critical analysis of the readings, lectures, artistic examples, and project critiques. Course objectives are accomplished by an introduction to a variety of software packages, lectures, and by creating visual images with the computer. The primary focus of instruction will be on functional applications of the digital medium such as Layout and Publishing and generating graphics to use within these applications. Further investigation is achieved by the criticism, presentation, and analysis of these projects.
