ARTH 105 - Issues in Art

This course is an introduction to the study of art and art history as we examine the basic question: how does art communicate? You will study the meaning of art by looking at it from different perspectives, including varying approaches to art (such as realism and expressionism), the issues of design, and issues of historical and curatorial importance. You will analyze the foundational assumptions of the various subfields of the art discipline. This course also serves as an introduction to research methods and information literacy. During the fourth hour you will learn how to use the library and how to organize and write an essay.
