Environmental Studies Minor

The Environmental Studies minor provides students, from any major, an interdisciplinary understanding of human interactions with the environment to solve complex problems we face today. The minor includes course offerings from 14 departments and programs. The curriculum emphasizes the social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences to prepare students to address environmental issues as global citizens-in our region and the world beyond. 

Program Requirements


Required Courses: 3 Credits


Natural Sciences: 6-7 Credits


Two of the following, each from a different department

Skills: 4 Credits


One of the following:

Environmental Studies Elective: 3 Credits


One course from the above lists of Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences courses.

Note(s)


  • Students graduating with an Environmental Studies minor must complete the minor requirements with at least a 2.0/S grade in each course.
  • For the Humanities, Social Science, and Science Electives, students may petition the program to accept other suitable courses.

Total Credit Hours Required: 22-26
