The Master of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instruction has been designed to meet the needs of students with initial New York certification who seek to complete the academic requirements for Professional certification. Each candidate will develop an individualized program of study in collaboration with the candidate’s adviser. This program of study will be designed to be functionally relevant to the candidate’s initial certification area in one of the following disciplines:

Candidates holding initial New York certification in areas other than those listed above must consult with the program coordinator prior to enrollment to discuss the feasibility of completing this program.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Curriculum and Instruction M.S.ED. candidates will be able to:
- design and evaluate research-based curricula aligned with learning theories and educational standards while demonstrating collaborative leadership in facilitating equitable, inclusive educational environments.
- synthesize and communicate information strategically and accessibly across various mediums, including digital and traditional formats, to effectively engage diverse audiences and support collaboration in educational settings.
- apply evidence-based instructional strategies and assessment practices to foster student engagement, critical thinking, and academic achievement in diverse learning environments.
- critically analyze educational research and use data-driven decision-making to improve teaching effectiveness, curriculum development, and student learning outcomes.

Program Requirements
For candidates holding Initial certification in an eligible discipline and are seeking Professional certification. Core Requirements: 12 Credits
Diversity Requirement: 3 Credits
Technology Requirement: 3 Credits
Content-Related Courses that link Pedagogy and Content: 12 Credits
In addition to the required courses above, candidates must complete 12 additional credits of content-related courses that link pedagogy and content, selected in consultation with the advisor and in relation to the candidate’s initial certification area.Students have the flexibility to select courses across different groups to best align with their academic and professional goals. Note(s)
- The Learning Design advanced certificate (12 credit hours) can be applied toward the Curriculum and Instruction M.S. Ed. All courses within the certificate fulfill the “Content-Related Courses that Link Pedagogy and Content” requirements, allowing for a seamless transition into the Curriculum and Instruction program.
