Financial Statement Analysis

Students will learn the basics of the three main financial statements, Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Cash Flows in ACCT 201. They will also be introduced to the main ratios used to analyze financial statement information in ACCT 201. In FINA 301 they will learn how to apply those ratios to a financial statement and perform an analysis of an actual company’s annual reports from the standpoint of a commercial lender with a semester long project. This analysis includes liquidity analysis, asset usage, debt analysis, profitability analysis, and basic cash flow analysis.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Financial Statement Analysis Microcredential students will be able to:

explain the basics of the three main financial statements, Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Cash Flows.

explain the main ratios used to analyze financial statement information.

perform an analysis of an actual company’s annual reports from the standpoint of a commercial lender, equity investor, or owner with a detailed emphasis on liquidity analysis, asset usage, debt analysis, profitability analysis, and basic cash flow analysis.
