• Perform the close, forensic textual analysis of classic historical and literary works that is characteristic of humanistic scholarship.
• Describe the threads of major literary, historical, and philosophical traditions, and how those traditions have been challenged, revised, and extended from antiquity to the present.
• Evaluate the linkages between humanistic studies and the development of modern scientific methods and artistic accomplishments in effective oral and written communication.
