Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Basic Investment Portfolio Analysis students will be able to:
- Explain important investment concepts such as diversification, P/E ratio analysis, the trade-off between perceived risk and expected return, beta analysis, the time value of money, and portfolio construction.
- Explain the primary attributes of specific investment vehicles, including publicly traded stocks, bonds, gold, real estate, and other “real” assets.
- Prepare a personal retirement plan that includes a stock-based retirement portfolio.

Program Requirements
This microcredential provides students with a basic understanding of important investment concepts such as diversification, P/E ratio analysis, the trade off between perceived risk and expected return, beta analysis, the time value of money, and portfolio construction. Specific investment vehicles covered include the publicly traded stocks, bonds, real estate, and the basics of options and futures. The project in FINA 410 , Investment and Portfolio Analysis, involves preparing a personal retirement plan and building and defending a retirement portfolio. Required Courses: 9 Credits

- FINA 410 includes a semester long Retirement Planning/Portfolio Construction project in which students must earn a minimum grade of 75%
- Students must earn a minimum grade of 2.0/S in courses counted towards the microcredential.
