Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The Philosophy Major is designed to prepare students with the set of skills required to be successful in any career they might pursue and to enrich their lives by introducing them to the central and fundamental questions which face human beings in all aspects of those lives. Philosophy majors develop their analytical, critical, speaking and writing skills by engaging with and evaluating the arguments and views of some of the most influential and powerful thinkers who have ever lived. There is no better major than philosophy to prepare you to think clearly and critically about difficult things, not least, the direction and course of one’s own life.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

Philosophy B.A. students will be able to:

   • cultivate analytical, critical, interpretative and evaluative abilities.
