The Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership leads to endorsement by the College for New York State certification as a School Building Leader (SBL) and School District Leader (SDL). This program is designed for experienced teachers holding professional teaching certifications who wish to become administrators within a public-school setting. The program has been constructed in a way that students will complete requirements for both administrative NYS certifications while fulfilling the requirements to earn the advanced certificate credential from SUNY Potsdam.

As a core requirement to the program, students will also receive an advanced certificate through SUNY Plattsburgh in Teacher Leadership upon completion of the four online courses through SUNY Plattsburgh.

The program focuses on providing students with the conceptual and applied foundations in staff development, student learning and assessment, curriculum development, leadership and organizational change, financial management, and collaboration. This program is designed to meet NYS regulations with attention to the communities we serve and the social and economic changes and circumstances that students face in schools today.
