MUCE 691 - Capstone Seminar 2 Credit(s)
This course serves as the culmination of the Master of Music Education degree program. The objective of the Capstone Seminar is to help students at a critical point in their educational journey to look both backward and forward, synthesize prior learning and generate new knowledge and ideas for their future as music education professionals. Students will work to synthesize coursework, teaching experiences, and individual inquiry to develop a capstone project that aligns with their professional goals and teaching context. Capstone projects may include but are not limited to: research studies, literature reviews, curricular design projects, and/or practitioner resources and may take the form of a scholarly paper, website, portfolio, conference poster, video production, or complete curriculum design, to name some examples. Throughout the course, students will work systematically on their personal capstone projects, submit rough drafts of the project components throughout the semester to the mentor, and practice giving and receiving constructive feedback to and from their peers.
