LITR 419 - Victorian Literature

Queen Victoria reigned from 1837-1901 and gave her name to an age. The nineteenth century saw massive changes in many areas-technology, population migrations, science, religion, nationalisms, sexuality, and class-and the course will consider how literature reflected, and sometimes shaped, those changes. Authors or focus may vary from semester to semester.

Prerequisite(s): LITR 200 or LITR 201, and LITR 300.
