3 Credit(s)

Elementary Methods is a course designed to prepare students to teach mathematical concepts and skills in grades PK-6. They will also learn how to develop mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills. Simultaneously, the PK-6 mathematics curriculum will be reviewed to increase the knowledge base and the confidence level of the future teacher. Students will be introduced to current issues in mathematics education such as the Common Core Standards, the use of technology and manipulative materials, interdisciplinary education, performance assessment and constructivism.
