ARTE 403 - Art Education: Curriculum Design 3 Credit(s)
The purpose of this course is to explore self-efficacy in teaching roles and to expose students to meaningful development of lesson plans, units and teaching methods. Students will learn how to incorporate the various components of art education (elements and principles of design, visual culture, art criticism, multiculturalism, literacy, and art history) into curriculum plans. Students will design and build a curriculum portfolio that meets New York Arts & Media Arts standards. This course uses a personal, reflective, “backward by design,” approach to curriculum development in art education for multi-age and multi-ability populations through an emphasis on preparing for edTPA assessments.
Prerequisite(s): ARTE 301 And ARTE 302
